Two of the UK’s leading competition riders – Ruth Edge and Judy Harvey – will be presenting a fabulous evening of information and entertainment at Blackdyke Farm in Cumbria on Wednesday May 28th, including a revealing insight into their training methods, the horses they ride and the meticulous attention to detail that has brought them both success at the highest levels.

Ruth Edge needs little introduction eventing enthusiasts, having risen through the ranks to become a leading international event rider, securing her first 4-star 3DE event win at Luhmuhlen last year with Two Thyme. The pair is now long-listed for the British team that will compete at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Equally well-known, Judy Harvey FBHS has an enviable wealth of dressage experience as she is a List I and international dressage judge, an international dressage trainer and is also very successful in the saddle, having won the 2007 National Intermediaire II Championship with Fitzcerraldo, now competing successfully at Grand Prix.

Judy and Ruth have worked together for a number of years, as Judy is Ruth’s dressage trainer, making it easy for them to present a really interesting programme looking at many different aspects of what goes into success in dressage and success in eventing. This is the only opportunity to see how they work together and what makes them both so successful.

BLACKDYKE FARM TO HOST TRAILBLAZERS DRESSAGE QUALIFIERS

October 1st, 2007

Adding to a very enthusiastic interest in Trailblazers showjumping competitions, Blackdyke Farm will be hosting Trailblazers dressage qualifiers for the first time starting with the fixture on November 11th 2007. Held monthly, the qualifiers will be at preliminary, novice and elementary levels and be 'mixed' - which means open to both junior and senior riders as defined in Trailblazers rules.

To qualify for the Second Rounds, combinations must achieve a score of 58% or over in a Trailblazers first round competition. To find out more about Trailblazers, visit the Trailblazers website.

Cheshire-based Heather Morgan and Brasingaman Boy are the WCF Country Centres easibed Elementary Champions, scoring almost 69% at the Championship fixture to collect the richest affiliated prize on the northern dressage circuit.

The 9-year-old Anglo Dutch gelding, already successful at medium level, produced a level test showing good balance and engagement to finish just 3 marks ahead of Reserve Champions Karen Jackson and her 8-year-old Marquis VI, who had travelled from Lancashire.

Just 1 mark in arrears, Chloe Harwood and Bingham's Light Infantry took third place and the mare prize went to the Cumbrian combination of Susan Hinton-Smith and In The Pink VII, who were contesting only their third test at this level.

Hosted by Blackdyke Farm in Cumbria, these northern championships follow a series of qualifiers staged across the region and attract huge interest, so it was no surprise that 42 hopefuls started in the WCF Country Centres easibed Novice Championship.

With the two judges in agreement over their Champion, the very generous prizes went home to Lancashire with Lisa Marriot and Vanity Fair V, who deservedly scored more than 71% for a technically correct and very attractive performance, also claiming the mare prize at this level.

The Reserve Championship was claimed by Cumbrian instructor Terri Graham, who rode her home-bred and produced 6-year-old mare Ten ‘O May to produce a very ‘uphill’ picture with only occasional losses of balance, scoring over 69%. Katherine McKenna and Kerry Blue II took third with 68%

The addition of an unaffiliated novice championship to the series proved very popular and in addition to prizes from WCF Country Centres and easibed, British Dressage provided Annual memberships and horse registrations for the top three combinations, with a British Dressage Class ticket for all starters.

On home ground, Blackdyke Farm instructor Anne Linton rode owner John Collier’s event gelding Lowmoor Brooklyn to collect the Championship, having qualified him at the same venue earlier in the series.

Kim Nicols and Fergal took the Reserve Championship and Amanda Hatton finished third with Freeway.
